ALBUM COVER REDESIGN
This project involved a conceptual redesign of Daniel Caesar’s 2023 album Never Enough as a gatefold vinyl cover. Drawing on themes of emotional vulnerability, heartbreak, and reflection, the design translates the album’s lyrical depth into a moody, atmospheric visual narrative.
Inspired by the storytelling within the music, the final artwork features an open door glowing with light. symbolizing vulnerability and emotional exposure—leading to an empty, contemplative interior space in the inner gatefold. The back cover depicts an apartment block at night, with one lit window guiding the viewer back into the same room, reinforcing themes of isolation and introspection.
Through textured illustrations, carefully curated warm and cool colour palettes, and bold, expressive typography (Neue Haas Grotesk), the design captures the contrast between emotional intensity and quiet melancholy. Each detail, from the beaming light to the silhouette shadow—echoes Caesar’s raw and introspective lyrics, making the packaging an extension of the album’s narrative journey.
